Love, not the feud, causes the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Romeo and Juliet is a Shakespearean play written about two young lovers (about fourteen in fact) who are crossed by the stars and are destined to die an unhappy death. The whole play is based around coincidences, which occur during the play, and shape the entire story. These coincidences are to do with either love or hate, which are both major influences in the unlucky endings of the two teens. "Love, not the feud, causes the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" is a difficult statement to prove, and could be argued either way. However, I believe it was the feud. For example, the Montagues and Capulets are feuding, Tybalt happens to recognize Romeo through his mask, and because of this, Tybalt seeks out Romeo to kill him. If this hadn't happened, there would be a far better chance of a happy ending for the two lovers, and therefore the feud is to blame in this view. However, in such a scene as the one in which both Romeo and Juliet kill themselves, love is the 'real killer'. This is so, because perhaps if Romeo did not love Juliet quite so powerfully, he would no......
