(Pliny the Younger, AD 79) Many survived the fateful days that the city of Pompeii was buried alive by the ash from Mount Vesuvius, but some would be frozen in time, their deaths coming as unexpectedly as the volcanic eruption. The rediscovery of the ancient lost city lets one look directly into these peoples' everyday lives. It is significant not only because it is an amazingly preserved archaeological site but, because we can directly link the past and their history to the present through an inside look. The city of Pompeii not only draws one in, it keeps one locked......
