My memory of it is as clear as if it were only yesterday, when in actuality, it was just three days before my fifteenth birthday. It was a day I will never forget, though it was not because of the beautiful spring weather, even though it was a particularly sunny afternoon in late April. The sky was a bright blue and there was barely a trace of clouds on the horizon. I recall a cool, gentle breeze blowing my long, bleached blonde hair into my face as I crossed the parking lot from the car to the storefront. I could not have been more excited if I had been strapped into the front car of the world's highest rollercoaster as it teetered on the summit of the tallest hill, for I had anticipated this occasion for what seemed a lifetime. As a birthday gift to me, my mom was taking me to buy my first electric guitar! My mom, leading the way, opened the heavy glass door for me. I quickly entered the music store and was instantly transported to a musician's paradise filled with an array of shiny new musical instruments standing proudly on display.
