Introduction Heart disease is any of conditions that can affect the heart. There are many different types of heart disease such as coronary artery disease (CAD), heart attack, heart failure, and ischemic heart disease. The most predominant type of cardiovascular disease is CAD and myocardial infarction (MI) in New Zealand (Ministry of Health, 2004). This assignment will introduce the definition of CAD and MI. Epidemic trends of CAD and MI in New Zealand will be discussed. An overview of the pathophysiology that relates a client's clinical features will be explained. Following this, a comprehensive nursing assessment including risk factors and prognosis will be provided. Finally, the nursing management will be discussed.
