Analysis of "The Seduction" Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

"The Seduction" is a poem that explores the idea of seduction. It is a narrative poem that tells the story of a young girl who becomes pregnant, after having drunken sex with a boy who seduced her at a party. It also recounts her immediate emotional response to her pregnancy. In the first part of the poem the reader gets the impression of a somber atmosphere; especially in the first stanza. "Far from the blind windows of the tower blocks." This is particularly significant as it not only portrays the bleakness of the scene but it also indicates that their whereabouts is unknown only to them. Additionally the writer uses phases such as "knocked it back", "drunken nervousness", "more drinks so she fell in love" these tell us that the boy in the poem has thought this through and planned it out which sends a chill down the readers spine and darkens the mood of the poem. When the poem progresses to the half-way point the atmosphere gets sleazier as the boy starts to make his move on the drunken girl. "stroked her neck and thigh......
