Tourette syndrome is a disorder of the brain and it causes people to make movements or sounds which they can not control, and the movements or sounds are called tics (Health Topics). There is different kind of tics, some people have simple and mild tics, and some can be severe. The two different types of tics are Motor Tics and Vocal Tics. Motor tics are usually eye blinking, head jerking, shrugging, sniffing, jumping, touching and etc. Vocal tics are usually barking noises grunting, throat clearing, tongue clicking and also repeating words (Health topic). Tics happen because of a disturbance of chemicals in the brain and transmit impulses from one nerve to another (Health Topic). Research from studies says that most cases of Tourette Syndrome are usually inherited. Also a person who has it has a 50% chance of passing it down (health Link). There is a abnormality in the genes that is affecting the brains metabolism of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine (Health Link).
