Statue of Liberty Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

What does art mean to our society today? Many people believe that the impact art once had in our society has depreciated and will soon come to a halting crash. The art once produced in the 18th or 19th century is believed to have a much greater impact on our society as a whole today than more recent works of art. For example, Frederic Bartholdi in the 1880's designed the Statue of Liberty, a magnificent piece of, that still stands today because of its incredible meaning to our society and the relationship between France and the United States. While examining the Statue of Liberty closely, one notices the great detail applied to the massive piece of art. Since the artist who created the statue has long since passed away I am left guessing what the many details included in the statue actually mean. One significant detail that interests me is why the statue's outer shell is made of copper. Another significant detail left without an answer is why the statue is of such colossal size. The final major detail that leaves me wondering what the artist meant to symbolize is the fact......
