Life in the Iron Mills Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

There are several stories in the world where the setting or the time period of the story plays an infinite roll, but in Rebecca Harding Davis' "Life in the Iron-Mills", the characters make all the difference. From the amazing role of Hugh Wolfe to the vital words from Mr. Kirby and his friends, everyone impacts the other. Deborah has the most remarkable story because she is able to stay positive through it all. The author does a good job with making every character involved with the final outcome of the story, impacting the reader's anticipation for the ending. This story is told about in the setting of the iron mills in the lower part of Virginia. It was ran by "about a thousand men" (1036). Clarke Kirby was one of the people who oversaw the workers and he was also the son of the iron mill's co-owner. Clarke's attitude towards the workers is very disrespectful, as he treats them like objects instead of people. Clarke was the first one to see the korl that Hugh Wolfe had made.
