Susan is a first time project manager assigned with a responsibility of managing a project to change office furniture in a decentralized reporting structure where business units operate independently. Susan has come up with a project plan, and a project team where ergonomics was identified as the primary concern and a policy was implemented that individual business units will pay for moving costs of furniture and only corporate standard furniture would be moved. Jon Wood is a manager for PCD business unit and has vast experience with the company and is facing an issue where his department is losing money. In agreement with management Jon is moving his department in order closer to operations that might streamline his department and gain efficiencies. The day before the move, Jon met Susan for the first time and was told that he could not move his filing cabinets as they were not corporate standard.
