Phoenix and Tucson are both considered the major cities in Arizona. According to FBI Uniform Crime Report data, Tucson had a population of 547,981 while Phoenix had a much larger population of 1,597,397 during 2010. Phoenix's population is double the size of Tucson. Both cities are the home to several illegal immigrants and many crimes are committed here. Phoenix had more reported incidents in the year 2010. 254 forcible rapes were reported from January to June. While Tucson had 79 forcible rapes reported. Due to Phoenix's large population the amount of forcible rapes was much larger than Tucson's'. The number of rapes reported in Tucson has dropped from 98 in 2009 to 79 in 2010. Does this mean the rapes have decreased or that there are fewer people reporting rape? Phoenix has had an increase in the number of rapes reported 2009 to 2010. The number of rapes for Phoenix in 2009 was 251, for the first six months of 2010 the number of rapes reported in Phoenix is 2010.
