In recent years spiritualty has become the alternative to organised mainstream religion for a growing number of people. Nonetheless, there has been a small but significant interest from non-Muslims and Muslims alike in Islamic spirituality or Sufism, from the Murabitun World Movement, started by Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi formally known as Ian Dallas, a 60's British actor (Dallas,1988), to the of the perenialist movement started by the German-Swiss philosopher, Frithjof Schuon (1907 - 1998), (Schuon,2007:226). This paper hopes to explore the Sufi perspective of spiritually by contrasting two case study examples of Sufi tariqas (literally: Paths), in the Western European context. The two Tariqas which have been selected are; the Naqshabandi-Gamkol sharif path which extends back to a Pakistani Sufi shaykh known to his followers as 'Zindapir', 'the living shaykh' (Werbner, 2003:62).
