It is a human obligation to stand up for what is right, even if you are standing alone. In the texts The Crucible and Good Night, and Good Luck- by famous American playwright Arthur Miller and also the American actor and film writer George Clooney respectively- audiences are presented with both the best and worst of the American political history. Individuals experience different influences which clash with their morals. In the end they are left to decide what sacrifices need to be made, and ultimately change human nature forever. The Crucible and Good Night and Good Luck show that societies are sometimes corrupt with different people abusing their power for their own selfish reasons. Miller shows that when horrible things happen to people you can only expect them to act accordingly. The Crucible presents characters that show exactly this. The antagonist, Deputy Governor Danforth is presented as the power abusing villain who only looks to gain for himself. He shows acute adherence to the laws of 1692-93 A person is either with this court or he must be counted agains......
