The U.S. Constitution should be amended to establish a mandatory retirement age for Supreme Court Justices Ladies and Gentlemen, a dilemma must be resolved in our government and in our constitution. Currently, the U.S. Supreme Court handles over 8,000 cases per year and lives are given to the hands of nine Supreme Court justices as they come to a verdict on each case. This is a very seriously concerning problem for our constitution. There is no term limit for a Supreme Court Justice, simply their entire lives, becoming the only seats in the entire government without term limits. Justices have been known to be on the bench for more than 45 years and only retire when they are seriously ill, or even near death leading to many problems. First, although a justice could be very capable when they were appointed, 40 years later could change the entire capability and efficiency of a justice.
