The Zodiac Killer: A Masked Serial Killer Who Was Never Caught The Zodiac Killer was a demented serial killer who murdered and terrorized people for over five years, and he was never caught. The mysterious and deadly Zodiac Killer is often compared to Jack the Ripper and Son of Sam. The Zodiac Killer has been murdering and terrorizing people in San Francisco and the Bay Area since 1968. He wore a black homemade executioners hood with his symbol in white on the middle of his hood. His symbol was a circle with a cross in the middle. It resembled a riflescope. The Zodiac Killer taunted the police and newspapers with disturbing letters. In a lot of his letters he put clues and codes about his identity. In every letter he sent he always started out by saying, �This is the Zodiac speaking.� (Graysmith v) Even the greatest code breaking minds of the CIA, FBI, and the NSA could not figure out the different cryptograms and codes he put in his letters.
