Stalin wants an opening of a second front in Eastern Europe. Roosevelt promised Stalin this front but it was not supplied until June 1944. Stalin always believed that this was intentional and that he read Truman�s letter saying that the Nazi�s and the Soviet�s keep fighting one another and the United States would not get involved because the Soviet�s and Nazi�s would cancel one another out and the World War would be over without the United States intervention. Western Policy during the 1930�s was to focus Hitler�s attention on Eastern Europe rather than Western Europe. Stalin was psychotic because he purged his top officials and those that weren�t of Soviet descent were also killed. The Soviet Union�s reassertion of Western European countries that they can be set as post � war boundaries. Roosevelt�s favor was to give Poland away to the Soviets but he did not want to give away the other Western European countries to be under Stalin�s control.
