Senwosret III was a pharaoh of the Middle Kingdom during the 12th dynasty. His reign as pharaoh lasted 37 years from 1878-1841 B.C. Senwosret III is the best attested pharaoh from the Middle Kingdom because of the many statues that were produced of him. Senwosret III had a long prosperous time on the throne and he was military active during most of his reign. Senwosret III wanted to be remembered for being a great leader of his people and the warrior that would conquer others with his iron will. He initiated a series of military raids into Nubia. He wanted to protect trading routes and mineral resources. Senwosret III wanted to make transportation easy so he extended an Old Kingdom bypass canal around the first cataract at Aswan. In Semna he had stela built bragging about the men he killed, how he enslaved their women and children, burnt their crops, stole their livestock and poisoned their wells. Senwosret III also led a military campaign into Syria. He was met with resistance but crushed his foes because of Egyptian military superiority. He divided the country into three admin......
