There are many different factors that influence the way a story is written. Anything from a sight the author saw that day to a particular song the author heard can affect the outcome of a narration. Perhaps one of the most influential elements that a writer is exposed to is history. American history is something that influences everyone that lives in the United States. Every story that has been written by an author living in America has been influenced by the history of this country.
Thomas Paine, one of America’s greatest patriotic speakers during the Revolutionary War time period, wrote pamphlets that were designed to gain public support for the war and to raise the moral of the troops. In one of these pamphlets, Paine wrote a story titled “Crisis, No. 1.” One can easily identify influences of American history in this work.
