Our country has suffered from a loss of life in wars many times since it’s founding. Many Americans have fought and died to preserve our freedom and way of life. But the war we fight today is very different from any other, the war on terror. Previous wars were fought to give independence to ourselves and other countries or to stop oppression and suffering. But the men and women who fought these wars were soldiers. Individuals that have devoted their life to protect others. They know what costs may have to be taken, they accept these responsibilities and perform their duties proudly. In previous wars, the lives of the innocent were respected, soldiers fought only eachother. But terrorists deny these unwritten rules of engagement. They target any American, soldier, woman, or child, just because the fact that they are American .
