All mythology is designed to answer specific questions. Where did we come from? Who are we as people? God created man. This holds true for both the stories of creation in the book of Genesis. But why did he create man, and how long did it take him to form the earth? Both of these questions have different answers in the two stories in Genesis. The two creation stories in the book of Genesis are Creation by Speaking and Creation by Molding by Hand and Dismembering. The All powerful being in both of these narratives comes across delivering different messages about human life, but both cover the creation of life as we know it on earth today. The first narrative in the book of Genesis takes place over seven days. The all powerful is called �Elohim,� literally translating to god. Elohim creates the world through speech. Speech calls the world into being, and Speech also blesses it. God distinguishes between night and day on the first of seven days. On the second he separated the water from the sky.
