The Effect of Eating Disorders on the Human Body Eating disorders affect millions of people every year. Eating disorders are symptoms of problems in a person�s life. Anorexia nervosa is an illness that causes someone to starve themselves because they feel they are too large. Someone who eats and purges themselves is suffering from bulimia nervosa. Binge eating is a disorder in which people eat large quantities of food in short periods of time. Compulsive eating is when people eat uncontrollably and constantly gain weight. I will show the effects that eating disorders have on the human body throughout my research. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which people starve themselves. A person suffering from anorexia nervosa usually loses an excessive amount of weight. People suffering from anorexia nervosa are usually very skinny, but in their mind they are overweight. Anorexia mainly affects teenage girls. After becoming very anorexic people still believe they are overweight, even when they are near death. A person becoming anorexic usually has many symptoms.
