Objective I: Improved helping and advising skills with first-year students This semester, my work with freshmen included being a peer mentor for two freshmen orientation courses, and coordinating the G.O.L.D. program. For the orientation courses, I presented on a variety of topics including academic regulations, stress management, time management, and registration procedures. When Liz left, I prepared students for their exam and helped them finish out the registration process. My work with G.O.L.D. ranged from going on a ropes course retreat with them to tracking their requirements on Blackboard Every year, I see more and more differences between myself and the freshmen. It requires me to take a step back and see things from their perspective. It comes naturally for me to manage my time well and be organized. If someone tells me a date, then I put it on my calendar and that�s the only reminder I need.
