CULTURAL ANALYSIS EXERCISE With the development of new technologies during the twentieth century, including video, television, film, and the internet, the visual medium has risen to prominence on global proportions. As the written word dominated during Modernity, Post-modernity appears as a period affiliated with visual contexts and visual culture. Visual culture involves the process of creating the image and consuming the image. Neither the process of image production or consumption is separate from political, economic, theological, and social ideologies. The condition of post modernity affects both the creation of images and their consumption, particularly in its relationship to late-capitalism. Therefore, Post-modernity appears as a period dominated by images. However much debate has arisen as to whether post-modernity really exist or if in fact it simply is a reproduction of an exemplified modernity.
