Ex situ Conservation Biodiversity conservation refers to the number and variety of living organisms, which are protected and preserved under a variety of methods. Biodiversity conservation is achieved in two ways; the first is in situ methods and the second is ex situ methods. In-situ conservation also known as on-site conservation is the process of protecting endangered animals or plants in its natural habitat. In situ conservation involves protecting the animal species or plants from interference or destruction and other disasters in their natural surroundings. Yet, when in situ conservation is too difficult or impossible, ex situ conservation is used as the second option. Ex situ conservation or otherwise known as off-site conservation is the process of protecting endangered species or plants by removing it from their threatened habitat and putting them under the artificial care of humans.
