While I was at a friend�s gathering, my friend, Paulina, asked everyone, �Who�s Catholic in here, is everybody Baptist?� I replied, �No, I�m Buddhist.� She quickly retorted absentmindedly, �Well, that�s nothing!� I stared at her in disbelief. The comment she made immensely hurt my feelings yet it was an accurate illustration of the way that most people overlook Buddhism even though it is the fourth largest religion in the world, being exceeded in numbers only by Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. America is known as a melting pot of cultures due to the countless immigrants that call it home. Indian and Asian immigrants brought with them not only their culture but their traditions as well. Buddhism is one of the various traditions that has transpired distance and is still widely practiced in their home. Moreover, numerous people have adopted Buddhism as a philosophy that they incorporate into their daily lives.
