The problem I would like to address within the company I currently work for is the lack of teamwork among the various departments and the lack of accountability to the overall health of the organization. I see an opportunity to design a structure to allow the departments to be more compatible with one another and to also be accountable for their performance and contribution to the bottom line. The company I work for is in the gas and convenience store industry. We operate in excess of 100 stores in the Twin Cities and also in outlying areas of rural Minnesota. Our mission is to offer our customer a safe and satisfying purchasing experience and to provide an exceptional store offer. Our regional office houses several departments which include marketing, promotions, merchandising, accounting, maintenance and operations. The management staff and department structure have allowed our organization to create large gaps between departments which have in turn, decreased the performance of the company as a whole.
