Functions of Management As a manager at J.P. Morgan Chase, one of the Nation�s largest financial institutions and employer of over ninety thousand people world wide, I am expected to be an effective leader, planner, organizer, analyzer, decision maker, and implementer. These are the fundamental functions of management at Chase, USAA, and Citibank (my previous two employers). As such, I suspect these management functions are universally applicable to most any company competing in our current global economy, and are therefore worth careful evaluation and study. In addition to the effective execution of these fundamental management functions, managers are expected to posses certain skills and abilities.
