The conceptual art movement was critical to the evolution of art as it changed and advanced the art world as it was known, it began in the mid 1960�s and is still active today (Walker,1973). Conceptual art is defined as, �Art intended to convey an idea or concept to the perceiver.� (Houghton Mifflin Company, 2002) Conceptual art rejects creation and appreciation of a traditional art objects as it gives little importance to the physical object in artworks instead, it concentrates on the concept and discourses surrounding it. The rejection of traditional materials in artworks creates wider range of discourses allowing the audience to, not only view the artwork but also understand the ideology of it and encourages them to make their own interpretations of its meaning. Artists use conceptual art as a method to communicate with their audience as they are able to trigger thoughts and encourage them think about a subject that is of importance to them.
