Walt whitmen Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Walt Whitman was a man who loved to write about his life through his poetry. His life experiences are explained by many of his poems. “Leaves of Grass” was one of his poems that give examples of his life experiences. Also, Whitman had many beliefs that were included in his poetry. Much of the themes that are in Whitman’s poems tie in with the way he lived his life. Walt Whitman was an American poet who reflected his life in his writing. Through Walt’s life he has experienced many things that are shown through his poetry. Walt Whitman was born in May 31, 1819 just after the American Revolution. He was named after his father and was the second oldest in the family. Walt had four brothers and two sisters, and his younger brother was both mentally and physically handicap. Life at home was trying for Walt. “Whitman’s father was a stern and sometimes hot-tempered man, maybe an alcoholic, whom Whitman respected but for whom he never felt a great deal of affection” (Folsom & Price).
