This paper proposes that territoriality is an evolutionary psychological adaptive trait that evolved to protect both reproductive and material resources in primates. It addresses comparative primate studies, game theory, and place behavior as a means to provide evidence for its thesis, which is based on evolutionary psychology. Territorial behaviors may have evolved to protect both reproductive and material resources. �Territorial behavior is an important way by which individuals and groups can regulate the social interactions through warning potential intruders and protecting the area from outsiders� (Barryruback, & Neenakohli, 2005: 178).
