Servant Oriented Leadership During my second sea year I feel as if I have grown a great deal as a person and a midshipman. Not only did I experience so much while at sea, but I learned a lot life as well. The sea year was not only a time for me to learn my trade as a merchant seaman, but it was also a great opportunity to me to mature as a leader and a man. During school they try their best through several different methods to teach you about leadership but nothing has the effectiveness of experiencing life�s situations first hand. I was extremely glad when I found out that I was going to be able to do some reading for one of my sea projects. I have always enjoyed escaping into a good book, and to be able to do this for a project was something that I was really looking forward to. The book that I read was titled The Servant and was written by an author named James C. Hunter. When I was deciding on what book I wanted to take to sea for the project I had a really hard time making up my mind. There were so many that I wanted to read, but I knew that I had to narrow it dow......
