In this radical new version of an age old love story, director Baz Luhrmann hasn't created this movie with the heavy, serious vibe that so many productions of Shakespearian plays seem to have. Instead, by using spirited, modern imagery with pounding rock music and vibrant sexy actors to play the young lovelorn characters, he has created a movie that will be enjoyed by people who are not the Shakespeare type. This brand new and upbeat version of the play takes place in modern Verona Beach, a fictional city that is based on a hybrid of different coastal cities of America. This creates almost magical world, using different visual styles that come from many periods of time such as the 1940s, 1970s, and 1990s. To make the movie truly contemporary it is studded with fast cars and guns instead of horses and swords. "Romeo and Juliet" tells the saddening tale of two star-crossed teenagers who behind the backs of their feuding families, fall deeply in love with each other and marry. Their families, the Montagues and Capulets, are furious enemies, who have been fighting with one anoth......
