It was a time in my life when I realized that I was a sexy mid aged woman ,but I didn’t know who I was as myself because I played so many roles for a long period of time for my career. After being in many movies throughout my life and starting my own radio show in 1937 there were a lot of changes that had to be done. Not change like clothing, make-up, or hair styles, but a change in my career. I had to realize that I was still an attractive woman, but I was getting older and I had to change my role in my acting and as a woman. I was never the type who would speak my mind, but when I got offered to do a film with M.D. Fields in a new film “My Little Chickadee” I knew this could be a fresh start for me. A start that could be a whole new Mae West.
I can remember it all so perfectly as I jump into my car to run down to the studio anxiously wondering what the big news was. I was driving fast, my anticipation grew higher and higher. I spot the studio as I parked. I feel the handles on the door, ice cold. “Hello Edward” I said confidently. “Mae! Hello darlin’ how a do you do?” ......
