Fascism vs. Communism During the Great Depression, many people lost faith in democracy. Extreme ideas of many types arose. Two examples of new governments that arose were fascism and communism in many countries. Fascism is a system of government with centralized authority and a dictator ruler. Includes racism and severe nationalism. Communism is a form of socialism and it abolishes private ownership. Communism also has no class system and no way to achieve high in a communist life. Fascism is to the extreme right on a political spectrum. It is made up of aristocrats and industrialists and a lower middle class. Fascism unlike communism encourages private property and belongings. This form of government has the deciding power not for the individuals, but for the state. A fascist ruler that came to power in the 1930�s was Adolph Hitler. He came to power when Germany was in a weak state after world war one. Because of the treaty of Versailles, Germany had to pay for many of the damages to other countries.
