Deloris Van Cartier is a Reno lounge singer whose career as a lounge singer is going nowhere. Deloris is a talented singer and choreographer for her group. Deloris lead a fairly “ordinary” life for someone in her profession. When she is not singing she is spending time with her boyfriend a mafia boss named Vince. Deloris longs for Vince to leave his wife. When she decided to break it off with him something changed her mind. She witnessed her mafia boyfriend Vince’s boys shoot and kill their limo driver.
Deloris now has to escape from her boyfriends boys before alerting the police. After telling the police exactly what she saw, they decided that Deloris needs to go somewhere where she can be kept safe. The police decide to send her to a Catholic convent where she will lead the life of a real nun. She is assigned the name Sister Mary Clarence. Only two people in the convent know who she really is, the priest and the mother superior.
