All great writers pull ideas from what is familiar to them, their life, and the time that they have lived through; Shakespeare is no exception as he gives us glimpses into his background throughout �The Merchant of Venice.� Most all of Shakespeare�s books, plays, and sonnets has had something to deal with his life or something that was going on in the world.
