Forest Lake Forest Lake played a central role in creating Seminole County and was elected mayor of Sanford Florida eleven times. He was also the President and charter founder of the Seminole County Bank. He was determined to make Sanford the leading community of Central Florida. He unfortunately also believed that there would be in a lot of money in tourism in Florida like many other men of that time. Forest Lake moved down to Sanford Florida 1886 when he was just 17 years old. By 1893 he was elected mayor of � the celery city� for the first of eleven times. He wanted to make Sanford the leading city of Central Florida and he knew that if that was ever going to be possible Sanford would have to get out of Orlando�s shadow. To do this he wanted to create a new county, Seminole County. He became a Representative and because of him and few other powerful businessmen of Central Florida got the bill for county division passed in only two weeks with little attention to.
