I would not consider myself an avid supporter of the war in Iraq, nor am I staunchly opposed it. I guess you could say that I “run the line”. I do agree with some of the values being put forth in our efforts, but I disagree some of the ways those “efforts” have been, and are currently, executed. In an ideal world we should be able to accomplish all matters through discussion, but this is no ideal world. Since action (war) is best observed by most of the human population, this is the path we must travel to accomplish what we set forth for ourselves. The dilemma is whether-or-not we, the United States of America, can accomplish our goals, whatever those goals may be, in the most appropriate way – if there is such a thing. But if we follow some basic guidelines with which to be held liable, such as the eleven provided by Robert S. McNamara as stated in the documentary Fog of War, we may feel comfort in most of the decisions made in our efforts. Most of McNamara’s lessons, if not all, spawned out of his experiences as a servant to the American people. History should never repeat ......
