Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Virginia, a humble farming community, in February 1809. Through the course of his years he failed in many of his attempts, but through much determination, and perseverance, “Honest Abe” became one of the best leaders in the history of the U.S.A.
Abe Lincoln never spent one day in public school or college. How then did he become the leading lawyer in Illinois, logician at Cooper Union, the orator at Gettysburg, the emancipator of a race, the savior of a country and the idol of a patriotic world? The answer is: resolve, determination, perseverance, persistence and the ability to move on after his failures. His mother, though she died when he was nine, gave him the foundation of an education.
In 1832 Abraham lost his job and was defeated for state legislature. In 1833 his business failed. In 1835 he had a nervous breakdown then finally received his license to practice law in Illinois.
