The economically underdeveloped countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America,
considered as a entity with common characteristics, such as poverty, high birthrates, and economic dependence on the advanced countries are known as third world countries. These countries are also known as LDC’s (Least Developed Countries). Africa is possibly the worst continent in regards to LDC’s. 34 of 50 of the LDC’s are from Sub Saharan Africa. A recent survey said that people living in poverty will increase to 471 million by 2015. The LDC’s can’t get themselves out of poverty by themselves, they need our help. There are many reasons as to why these countries are in these poor situations. I am going to examine a few of the reasons why they are in this situation, and how we can help get them out of this very serious problem.
