Abstract Children spend more time sitting in front of electronic screens than any other activity besides sleeping. A child�s weight increases with the number of hours he or she spends watching television, playing the computer or video games. Many studies have proven that excess television can lead to child obesity. Obesity is defined as an excessive amount of body fat. An obese child may have emotional problems and since obese children are more likely to be obese adults they are susceptible to many physical problems too. There is considerable evidence that childhood eating and exercise habits are more easily modified than adult habits. Early and appropriate intervention is particularly valuable.
