The actual definition of censorship is �One who examines books, mail, etc. To remove things considered unsuitable- Hence the act of censorship�. This simply means that things such as language or racial remarks that could offend people must be removed because they are considered �unsuitable�. Often if a parent is reading a book that their child has to read for school, they will find something that they don�t think is appropriate for their child�s age group. Sometimes a concerned parent will go to the board of education and complain about the book. If enough people complain about it, the book can be put on a banned book list. There are many reasons why the book To Kill A Mockingbird (by Harper Lee), was put on the banned book list. An example of the language in this book is �Nigger�.
