Dorothea Lange Dorothea Lange is one the photographers that I liked and admired because not only she has an extraordinary work but she also she became a very strong person by having a painful childhood. Dorothea Lange was a natural photographer because she lived in her words, �a visual life�. Lange was born May 26, 1985 in Hoboken, New Jersey Dorothea Lange was one of those rare but recurrent figures in a particular American tradition. Dorothea Lange visited places that were seldom visited. When she was seven years old, she contracted polio, which left her with an obvious limp. In 1907 her father walked out on the family. She studied photography at Columbia University and worked at a New York portrait studio until 1918 when she began to travel. She worked in a studio in San Francisco during 1920s. (Dorothea Lange 1982, pg 8) Lange from the time she was a little girl she engaged camera-less sort of photography.
