History of Podiatry Podiatry is a specialty which involves the diagnosis and treatment of the human foot and its structures. Podiatrists earn a DPM degree which stands for Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. Podiatry, also known as chiropody and orthopedics, is historically known as the care of feet.
