“The Harsh Devise” By the turning of the 3rd century Rome was undergoing harsh turmoil. The emperor at the time, Aurelian then Diocletian, had devised a plan to make up for Rome's’ hardships by enclosing the city within a wall. Thus, later Diocletian, decided that yet Rome was still weakening by the time he controlled the empire at about 284. He devised a plan to separate Rome into 4 “spiffy” parts as well as to persecute Christians (Rise of Christianity and Fall Of Rome). Thus, although started the horrible persecution that many Christians underwent but ultimately rose to dominancy in Rome and later western Europe. Rome’s religion was well known for its Gods and Goddesses and yet a time did practice a form of sacrifice. The Romans life's revolved around their gods. From the early mornings to late at night these gods were deeply worshipped either in the family garden, the Vesta, or in the atrium. For instance, the family had devotions in gods such as the Lars Familiaris, whom many families lived under. They were believed to help around the house, and the Lares of the Crossroad......
