There are always pains and hardships to endure and conquer while growing up. These things will help you gain experience in life and will help you towards success. The main character of the novel ¡°The Road to Chlifa¡±, Karim, has been through such hardships and suffered much in the previous part of his life. However sad, these pains acted like stepping stones that helped Karim slowly gain his maturity.
In his first step for growing up, Karim lived in an environment where wars went on everyday, not knowing what would happen next, or when the next attack would be. Finally, Nada was gone after a fatal bombing attack between the religions in Beirut. This caused great sadness for Karim, who had been in love with her. Besides, he realized he had to face the fact that Nada was gone, and would never come back into his life. As you continue reading the book, the readers will understand that Karim feels very ¡°tired¡±. ¡°All of the sudden, he feels so tired. Dizzy almost. Empty of all emo......
