Report for book by Michael Massing The series of articles presented in the book, Now They Tell Us, by Michael Massing, was astoundingly insightful. Author, Massing, brings to light many barriers that journalists encounter when trying to objectively complete news reports. The articles reveal that most journalists� had a timid approach in reporting sensitive topics especially about the ambiguous war in Iraq. Most interestingly, I found that Massing openly discusses the hindrances in journalism including political patriotism, and journalists� lack of knowledge about the general geography and language of Iraq. Massing emphasizes the deficiencies of war correspondents just as writer Phillip Knightley outlines in his book, The First Casualty. First of all, compared to other foreign news networks like BBC who offered �no-nonsense anchors, tenacious correspondents, perceptive features, and a host of commentators steeped in knowledge of the Middle East,� (Massing 8) reporters on American TV appeared hesitant to challenge the coalition�s claims.
