To Kill A Mockingbird Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

To Kill A Mockingbird is narrated by a young girl named Jean Louise Finch, who goes by the nickname, Scout. Scout starts to explain the affairs that all led up to the broken arm that her sincere older brother, Jeremy Atticus “Jem” Finch, sustained many years prior; she begins by recalling her family past. An accomplished, stern lawyer, Atticus Finch makes a firm living in Maycomb, a poor, outdated town in the close quarters of the Great Depression. Atticus lives with Jem and Scout on Maycomb’s main residential street. Their cook, an older colored woman named Calpurnia, helps to nourish the children and keep the house in stern order. Atticus’s wife passed on when Scout was only the age of two, so she does not remember her mother all that well. But Jem, four full years older than Scout, has memories of their mother that periodically make him unhappy. In the summer of 1933, when Jem was nearly ten years of age and Scout is fast approaching the age of six, a peculiar boy named Charles Baker Harris moves in next door. {Charles Baker Harris likes to be referred to as Dill}.
