Emma Young and Coghlan outline that most experts agree that a foetus does not feel pain prior to twenty weeks after conception. Scientists divide into two factions, those who believe foetuses can feel pain and those who believe foetuses cannot feel pain. Initially, the article states that foetuses are unable to feel pain at the twentieth week of pregnancy as the sensory cortex is not developed enough.
