In “Hills Like White Elephants,” Hemingway writes about a couple that struggles in making a decision that will permanently define their futures. The couple discusses whether or not the girl should have an abortion. In this story, Hemingway’s point of view is realistic and objective. The story is told through third person objective with a minimalist style. Hemingway’s “Hills Like White Elephants” is a straightforward narration, which is limited and provides only the necessary information to the reader. In this direct and objective narration, Hemingway’s use of symbolism, suitable setting, point of view and organization support the style and fit appropriately to the content of the story.
