The film �Lumumba�, directed by Raoul Peck, shows my developing country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, going through leadership era of Patrice Lumumba. This man was the first Prime Minister of the Congo, in its newly gained independence from Belgium. The movie begins at the end of the story really, where you see three dismembered bodies, one being Patrice Lumumba. You see the bodies being burned in a desolate area, as to leave no trace of Lumumba�s life behind. The film then goes back to the time when the Congo belonged to Belgium, and shows Lumumba�s story starting from there. First, Lumumba is shown in a common area of a town where he sold �Polar� brand beer. He met a man named Joseph Mobuto, and they became friends together in the quest for a free Congo. They had lots of support from citizens. Granted his VISA, Lumumba chose to attempt to travel to promote the Congo�s independence. He was arrested in 1959 and kept in jail for 6 months.
